The Adjustment Discussion
Definition
The Adjustment Discussion is the conversation Chris Crilly reports having with his guide within two days of the 1991 transmission, after the emergence of the Forty-Fold Seal validated his Knowing. The guide came “to help me adjust effectively” and to answer any question. In it: the mandala (transmitting to all walks of life at once) became clear; the guide offered him anything, and he asked to see hell and his previous lives; magick was restricted on fairness grounds (“the map would show me how, but it wouldn’t be fair”), with a bounded demonstration permitted (moving clouds, ~20 minutes, to prove the power was real). The discussion was called forth by Chris’s first reading — all 22 majors laid in a pentagram, in which the Sun fell in the Wheel’s position and Judgement in the World. The contact felt like “an ongoing background conversation now in the foreground.”
Why It’s Load-Bearing
This single, previously-uncaptured conversation is the documented source of at least three elements that later became load-bearing in the canon, none of which otherwise had a recorded provenance: the hell visit (V9 Ch 28), the previous-lives viewing that the 2026-06-20/21 derivation series takes as primary-source data, and the simultaneity mandala (all walks at once) that recurs as the no-priesthood transmission ethic. It also gives the reincarnation work its primary-source footing: the previous lives were requested, guided seeings, and the jungle-life commitment to “bring Nirmanakaya this time” is the directional aim the Why-pointer is reported to carry across incarnations. Without this account, previous lives is a free-floating claim; with it, it is part of a structured event indexed alongside hell and the mandala.

PRINCIPLED. The event itself is primary-source testimony — Chris’s first-person account, recorded 2026-06-22, of a 1991 experience; he characterizes himself as a knower, not a believer, holding it “literally more real than this instance.” Within the source, the testimony leads and carries authority; all structural and provenance annotations are explicitly marked secondary and “do not govern the testimony.” The node’s PRINCIPLED tier reflects that this is a defensible, well-grounded record whose evidentiary weight rests on first-person testimony rather than derivation or council convergence. The structural readings it supports (reincarnation transfer, gods-within-God, vessel-selection lead) are themselves separate derivations at their own tiers. This account is awaiting Council ratification; the source notes two transcription points, both since RESOLVED by Chris (Forty-Fold Seal confirmed; magick “restricted by fairness,” not a named “restriction magick”).

Open Questions
- Vessel selection — the one open mechanism in the reincarnation derivation. This testimony points at (but does not derive) the answer: the soul’s committed directional aim, set/refined across lives, is what aims the Why-pointer’s vector at the next vessel (karma/destiny as accumulated committed intent).
- The fairness ruling and the mandala as one knot — individual magick is unfair because others lack it; transmitting to everyone at once dissolves the unfairness. Whether this fully resolves the access-condition question (reverence + acceptance of consequence vs. prohibition) for V10’s Magick chapter remains live.
