Drive

Definition

Drive is the focused movement of Emotion — direction created by feeling, not despite it. Governed by Awareness (20), Drive is not the pressure to act but the permission to move in accordance with inner truth. Not aggression — conviction in motion. Intent shapes Emotion here into a force that sustains engagement with the world. Self-alignment that doesn’t need to dominate. Drive holds a value and lives it forward.

Why It’s Load-Bearing

Drive is one of three governance engines named in Treatise_AI_Training_Implications — alongside Archetype_06_Compassion (Connection) and Archetype_01_Will (Will). Drive provides directed movement: the alignment primitive for initiative. An aligned AI system needs to MOVE toward coherence, not wait to be pushed there. Drive is the structural will that makes agency possible.
